NOW the official name is SATIO
Fasten your sit belts we are entering into the world of 12 MEGA Pixel(S).
The Idou* (pronounced as "I do"). The word Idou in Japanese means "a change" and Sony itself is a Japanese company. This was announced by Sony Ericsson at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain on the 15th of February 2009. It has been labelled as the company's iPhone killer. If very thing goes perfectly, this will be available in stores after JUNE or JULY 2009.
The Sony Ericsson’s Idou* is announced to be the manufacturer’s first all-in-one device. This device will definitely create as much hype as the XPERIA X1 did. Not only it is the first 12 megapixel GSM camera phone, but uses Walkman® software and Cyber-Shot™ technology to produce snaps that you could expect from a DSLR!! [But remember after all it’s a camera phone not a professional camera].
NOTE: DSLR stands for “Digital Single Lens Reflex” camera.
It is also the first device presented to ever run on the brand new open source Symbian user interface that's still being developed by the Symbian Foundation.
Soon you will see companies like SAMSUNG and LG coming with 12 megapixel camera phone both the companies have excelled in 5MP & 8MP cam-phones. Nokia, Motorola and other will also come up but may take some time. Nokia, as they are focusing on N97 which has 5MP and full touch interface [since 5800 Xpress Music has many bugs, Nokia is working on it deeply]. As per my knowledge at present the only 8MP camera-phone offered by Nokia is N86.
A part from having a 12-megapixel auto/manual focus camera, 4000 x 3000 pixels of resolution with Xenon flash it is also equipped with 16 Million colors of 3.5-inch touch-sensitive display with 16:9 widescreen format and a screen resolution of 360 x 640 pixels [portrait] 640x360 pixels [landscape] same as Nokia 5800 Xpress Music.
